Guards Case Study

So, what was the problem?

Guards Polo Club have been a long standing client of Rawnet and in preparation for the 2007 Polo season they were looking for a new look and feel for their website and a more powerful content management system behind the scenes. With the large number of games, teams and players involved in the sport, Guards Polo Club wanted a website that connected with the community, giving them access to results, statistics and player information at the click of a mouse.

How did we help?

Our first job was to develop a system that would let the team at Guards publish information about teams, tournaments, fixtures and results with as little effort possible. To do this we built a bespoke application using Ruby on Rails.

This application also allows the team at Guards to manage ticket orders and other purchases using a very sophisticated order management system, with little effort orders can be viewed, printed, searched and processed. Our next job was to update the dated look and feel of the existing website. Staying within the corporate brand guidelines we set out to create a rich and engaging interface that presents the large amount of information available on the website in an accessible way. To compliment this we also used video to give the viewer a feel for the atmosphere and action that can be experienced at a Polo match.

The happy ending

The new site has now been live for one season and has been a resounding success, generating over £150k of ticket sales through the website - in some cases selling out completely over a week before the event.
